Blues Come Up Short at Tampa Bay, 2-1
|
Tampa Bay pitcher Steve Aubin did his part in helping his team defeat the New York City Blues, 2-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The winning pitcher was Aubin, now 5-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Tampa Bay has now won 12 straight.
The Thunder got a big at-bat from right fielder Jhong-shun Xú. For the game, Xú went 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead.
"Both teams played hard," said Tampa Bay manager Dick Granade.
