Baker Lifts Thunder to 7-2 Win
|
The Tampa Bay Thunder opened their 2007 season with a triumph over the Toronto Titans at The Thunder Bowl. The final score was 7-2. Tampa Bay first baseman Eric Baker had a big game. He went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2.
Jhong-shun Xú had a big run-scoring triple for the Thunder in the bottom of the third inning. With Tampa Bay leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Aaron Sales, who finished 4th in the EC in innings pitched with 155.1 last year, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder ahead, 2-0.
"The team always comes first," Xú told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
