Shamrocks Stumble, Lose to Thunder
|
The Tampa Bay Thunder defeated the Boston Shamrocks, 9-4, at The Thunder Bowl. Leading the charge for Tampa Bay was right fielder Jhong-shun Xú. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Tampa Bay reliever John Stuart picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Justin Ferguson was saddled with the loss. The Thunder are now 17-6, while the Shamrocks fall to 8-15.
Mike Greene had a big 2-run home run for the Thunder in the bottom of the third inning. With Tampa Bay leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from Justin Ferguson, who is tied for 3rd in the EC in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Thunder on top, 3-0.
"It's great to be on a roll," said Xú.
