Arlington Left Fielder Battist Will Retire Sunday, July 30th , 2006 Arlington Stars officials flanked Ed Battist as he announced his retirement from pro baseball today. Rumors have had him on the verge of retirement since late last week but were not confirmed until today. "I want to leave the game the way I came into it," said Battist. "I don't want to become an embarrassment to myself and the team." Looking at his all-time stats, Battist has a career .250 average with 90 hits, 25 doubles, 2 triples, 19 home runs and 59 RBIs to date. He has scored 56 runs, walked 42 times and stolen 9 bases. |
