In an unforgettable performance, the 35-year-old Ortiz fanned 15 Blues and sparked the 9-4 Washington Warriors victory over New York City. He left Blues hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Washington manager Barry Lolicht. "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 15 strikeouts over 9 innings, Ortiz allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in a superlative outing.
