Blues Move on to Cup Qualifier
Wednesday, October 4th , 2006
Pete Phillips sparked his New York City Blues past the pesky Philadelphia Keystones in a closely-contested Play-in Series.
New York City topped Philadelphia 3-2 at Keystones Stadium to decide the series, 3-1
For his efforts, Phillips was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .462 batting average, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"You never want to leave anything on the field," Phillips said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win."
The New York City Blues will play against the Washington Warriors in the next round. Washington had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Cup Qualifier is scheduled to begin on October 6th , 2006.
