Warriors Win Cup Qualifier
The Cup Qualifier may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Washington Warriors, however, are not complaining.

The Warriors were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the New York City Blues to advance to the Pro Circuit Cup.

Washington won the final game by a 12-6 count at Warriors Park and the series 4-2.

Warriors first baseman Zach Rentz was named series MVP, as he hit .385 with a .407 on-base percentage. He added 4 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 7 runs.

"It's not going to be the last time New York City makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Rentz said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day."

The Washington Warriors will play against the Denver Cutthroats in the next round. Denver won their series against the San Francisco Peanuts 4 games to 0. The Pro Circuit Cup is scheduled to begin on October 18th , 2006.
