Boston Gets Another L
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of New York City fans at Blues Field.

The New York City Blues stymied the Boston Shamrocks, 3-2, at Blues Field. Bryan Bassett had a good day at the plate. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for New York City. Picking up the save was Diego Rodriquez, his 15th.

Bassett had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Willie Cantu, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Blues a 3-2 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Bassett.

"There is no easy way to lose when you're doing everything you can to win games," said Boston manager Frank Guinness.

The 7th-place Shamrocks now sit at 33-50.
