Buckner Helps St. Louis Cruise to 11-3 Win
The 2006 season is off to a good start for the St. Louis Lions. The hometown Lions dumped the Salt Lake City Coyotes, 11-3, at The Lions Hearth. Jason Buckner spearheaded the win. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Kevin Williams, who finished 4th in the EC in ERA with 2.72 in 2002, was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.

With St. Louis trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Buckner hit a fastball from Chris Roche for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Lions ahead, 4-1.

"We didn't get the results that we wanted," said Salt Lake City skipper Tyler Montgomery.
