Warriors Score Late to Upend Blackhawks, 6-2
|
Warriors right fielder Bill Garcia left his imprint on his team's 6-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Garcia went 2 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for Washington in the contest. Mel Palma earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record is now 5-1. The Blackhawks, now 8-13, have lost 4 in a row.
Washington used the timely hitting of Eddie Gibbs to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Warriors on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Seth Butynski.
