SPBC Best Newcomer Named Friday, November 4th , 2005 The fine rookie first baseman from Newark, Nate Spalding, was hailed today as the winner of the 2005 Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Rookie of the Year Award. Spalding finished his freshman season hitting .311 with 3 home runs, 34 RBIs and 59 runs scored. He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 16. Chad Katzenstein of the Toronto Titans finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while David Waggoner of the Newark Eagles finished third with 5 first place votes.
