Sunday, October 16th , 2005
The Vacaville Steelheads "proved we can handle pressure" by beating the Division Championship Series and eliminating the Salt Lake City Alpines, according to series MVP Nick Walton.
"This is the big stage, we're off to the SPC Classic Series and looking towards the SPC Classic Series," he said. "There's a lot of pressure at this time of year and it's only going to get more intense from here. But I think we can handle it just fine."
Vacaville won the final game 3-2, to wrap up the series 4-1.
Walton led his team to the series win by putting up a .412 average, with a .524 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Vacaville Steelheads will play against the Quebec City Blues in the next round. Quebec City won their series against the Newark Eagles 4 games to 0. The SPC Classic Series schedule will be announced after the Division Championship Series finishes.
