Newark No Match for Emerich
Tuesday, September 27th , 2005
Colt Emerich subdued the Newark Eagles, 9-0, pitching a 2-hit gem for the Hamilton Tigers at Hamilton Park.
"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Hamilton skipper Tom Kern said afterward.
Emerich registered 5 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in his superb performance.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Newark manager Steve LaPorte after the defeat.
So far this year Emerich has made 23 starts, tossed 177.1 innings, struck out 99 batters and walked 54. His record is 17-6 with a 2.99 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .264 batting average.
