Hit Streak Now at 20 for Gartrell Tuesday, August 30th , 2005 Mike Gartrell, catcher for the Newark Eagles, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 1 hit in his club's 8-1 victory today over the Toronto Titans at Eagles Park today. "Not the outcome we wanted," Toronto manager Nigel Laverick said. "There's never a good time to lose, and it's never fun to be on the wrong end of somebody else's accomplishment." Mike Gartrell hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, walked in the 5th, walked in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. For the season Gartrell has hit .306 with 8 home runs and 45 RBIs. He has played in 67 games and scored 50 times. |
