Road Win Lifts Vacaville to 2-1 Lead in DCS
When the stakes were high, Tom Thompson raised his game to match.

The right-handed Thompson turned in a stellar performance in Game 3 of the Division Championship Series today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Vacaville Steelheads to victory. He allowed 9 hits and struck out 8. The win gave Vacaville a 2-1 lead over the Salt Lake City Alpines in the best-of-7 series.

Thompson pitched a complete game for Vacaville. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 9 hits. He struck out 8 during his 121-pitch performance.

"Tom was throwing free and easy," said Vacaville manager John Mills.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Salt Lake Stadium in Salt Lake City.
