Empires Topple Drillers, 5-1, as Cosentino Shines
|
Drillers Field was the site for Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit action featuring the Edmonton Drillers and Southern California Empires.
The 5-1 Southern California win over Edmonton was due largely to Bill Cosentino. The Empires catcher went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Southern California starter Min-jun Jung was credited with the win after throwing 136 pitches over 8.1 innings. His record now stands at 6-5.
Southern California took a 4-0 lead on Cosentino's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Francisco Carreno in the top of the sixth, propelled Southern California to the win.
Cosentino told a Southern California Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The loss makes Edmonton 47-39.
