Aces Shut Out Goldeyes, 5-0

The Winnipeg Goldeyes and Las Vegas Aces were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Las Vegas Aces picked up a win at Vegas Stadium, knocking off the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 5-0. Starting pitcher Antonio Maytorena was a big reason why. In 8.1 innings, Maytorena surrendered 11 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.
The Aces got a big at-bat from center fielder Aaron Defoe. For the game, Defoe was 2 for 2 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season gave Las Vegas a 1-0 lead.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Defoe said.
The last-place Aces now have a win-loss record of 35-50.
