Ottawa got a terrific game from third baseman Bill Flohrs. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Toronto, 5-3. Flohrs went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. Jon Drader got the win, improving to 5-4. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 7. Federico Cardenas was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 21 save opportunities.
Jose Cruz, the 32-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Cruz contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Toronto up, 3-2.
Cruz called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The 7th-place Titans raised their record to 38-46.
