Tigers Score Late, Stun Capitals, 3-2
|
The Hamilton Tigers had to overcome a fine performance from Ottawa pitcher Pete Block to grab a 3-2 win at Hamilton Park. Block allowed no runs over 8 innings. Hamilton reliever Pete Mellema picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Jon Delgado was saddled with the loss. With the win, Hamilton pushed its record to 48-29.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Hamilton trailing 2-1, Chris Buckner jumped on a 0-1 fastball from Jon Delgado for a 2-run home run, sending the Tigers to a walk-off win.
"This game had its share of tense moments," Buckner said, postgame.
