Fleetwings Lose to Eagles in Walk Off
|
Eagles Park was the site of a tense game between the Allentown Fleetwings and Newark Eagles.
Newark picked up a win at Eagles Park, toppling the Allentown Fleetwings, 2-1. Pitcher David Waggoner was one of the reasons the Eagles triumphed. John Mouser picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Cory Murnane was tagged with the loss.
Jaden Mitchell was the walk-off hero for Newark. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Eagles pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Newark manager Steve LaPorte said.
The win gives Newark a season record of 44-31.
