Empires Get One-Run Win at Saskatoon
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Southern California Empires and the Saskatoon Moose, pitcher Jason Davis was the difference between victory and defeat. The Southern California right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 Empires win. Davis went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-7. At 28-37, the Empires find themselves in 6th place in the West Division.
Dave Oppelt, the 28-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Oppelt contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put Southern California up, 2-1.
"I was a little disappointed," said Saskatoon manager Steven Tucker. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
