Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Allentown Fleetwings. Winnipeg won it, 3-1. Winnipeg starter Al Novack was in command. The winner in relief was John Koger. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 4-6. The win has Winnipeg at 24-36.

Winnipeg used a clutch hit from Mark Hensley to get the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Goldeyes ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Novack said.
