Blues Come Back Late to Top Empires, 5-2
|
Behind the hitting of Clay Barnes, the Quebec City Blues stopped the Southern California Empires, 5-2. Barnes was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Blues. Bobby Chambless earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record is now 3-5. Quebec City raised its record to 28-21 with the win.
Barnes had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Tyler Rodriguez, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Blues a 5-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Barnes.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Barnes said.
