The Philadelphia Keystones beat the Las Vegas Aces, 6-3, at Vegas Stadium. John Wayne, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The winning pitcher was Miguel Moreno. He tossed 84 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Joe Ivie closed it out for his 7th save.
Yong-koo Baek, the 23-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Baek contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Philadelphia up, 4-3.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Wayne told the Philadelphia Gazette. "But we take nothing for granted."
