Blues Score Late, Topple Goldeyes, 3-1
|
Winnipeg got a valiant performance from pitcher Scott Lovely, but it wasn't enough to beat the Quebec City Blues. Quebec City won the game, 3-1. Lovely threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The winner was Bobby Chambless in relief. His record improves to 2-4. John Koger took the loss. John Frost was called on to finish, recording his 9th save.
Quebec City needed the clutch hitting of Ryan Ream to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blues on top, 2-1. For the game, Ream had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Ream said.
The last-place Goldeyes have lost 5 straight games.
