Empires Suffer 3-2 Loss to Newark
|
Newark got a strong outing from Oscar Loza as the Eagles defeated the Southern California Empires, 3-2, at Eagles Park. Loza, now 6-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Josh Bartell earned the save for Newark, his 5th of the year.
Jamie McCartney, who is on pace for 68 RBI this season, helped out the Newark cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the second baseman was 1 for 4.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Newark manager Steve LaPorte said.
The victory gives Newark a record of 20-15.
