Extra-Inning Win by Drillers Over Capitals
|
The Edmonton Drillers did just enough to sneak past the Ottawa Capitals, 5-4, at Drillers Field. Edmonton pitcher Eric McIntosh, in particular, had a standout performance. McIntosh, now 5-1, was the winner. In 11 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 0, and allowing 4 runs. Edmonton now sits at 16-16, while Ottawa falls to 12-20.
The Drillers relied on second baseman Tony Bustamante for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"Our team showed some spunk," said McIntosh.
