Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Drillers
The 2005 season did not get off to quite the start the Vacaville Steelheads had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Edmonton Drillers at Ballpark of Vacaville. The final score was 7-3. Starting Pitcher Eric McIntosh was the top performer for Edmonton. Danny Teague earned the save for Edmonton, his 1st of the year.

Edmonton used the clutch hitting of Mark Buchholz to capture the win. The catcher drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Drillers the lead, 4-3. For the game, Buchholz had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"Nice win for us," said McIntosh. "Now we'll go after the next one."
