Monarchs Nelson Garcia to Miss Year Saturday, September 25th , 2004 Manchester closer Nelson Garcia could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn rotator cuff. He exited yesterday's Albuquerque game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Garcia would be out 9 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that." To date this season, Garcia has fashioned a 1.40 ERA and rung up 1 save for his club. He has 23 strikeouts and 6 walks. Opponents have hit for a combined .183 average against him and Garcia has a 3-1 won-lost mark. |
