Berard Twirls 4-0 Shutout Saturday, August 21st , 2004 Providence Grays starter Howard Berard really did a number on the Manhattan Liberty today, shutting them out 4-0 on 7 hits in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 2 strikeouts. "We didn't have good at-bats," said Manhattan manager Elijah Jackson. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Berard."
