SPBC's Top Rookie Acclaimed Monday, October 18th , 2004 For several weeks the rumor mill had it that the 2004 Rookie of the Year Award winner was a foregone conclusion and the trophy would go to Albany center fielder, David Cabrera. It is no longer a rumor -- the Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit made it official today. Cabrera won the award by hitting .295 and collecting 88 hits, 9 home runs, 38 RBIs and 38 walks. He scored 42 runs and posted a .373 on-base percentage. He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 16. Joel Baumann of the Ottawa Capitals finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Adrian Miyares of the Saskatoon Moose finished third.
