Quebec City-Southern California Swap: Guevara for Menagem Tuesday, August 31st , 2004 Proving the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure, the Blues announced today the acquisition of 34-year old RHP Allberto Menagem from the Southern California Empires in exchange for 21-year old minor league C Fella Yawo, 22-year old minor league CF Tony de la Riva, 19-year old minor league C Cory Guevara, and 20-year old minor league 2B Victor Jimenez. "This isn't the deal of the century," acknowledged the Blues, "but we think it will improve the direction of both teams." Menagem has posted a 6-4 record for the year with a 3.76 ERA. Teams are hitting .232 against him and he has rung up 97 strikeouts in 115 innings. |
