Drillers-Goldeyes Swap: Schoonderbeek for Banks Thursday, August 26th , 2004 Proving the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure, the Drillers announced today the acquisition of 28-year old RHP David Banks from the Winnipeg Goldeyes in exchange for 22-year old minor league RF Johnny Schoonderbeek and 23-year old minor league 2B Luke Masterson. "This isn't the deal of the century," acknowledged the Drillers, "but we think it will improve the direction of both teams." This year Banks has chalked up a 2.17 ERA with 1 save. In 19 relief appearances he has put up a 3-2 won-lost mark and struck out 29 batters in 37.1 innings. |
