Moose Fall, 6-3, to Gubbins, Steelheads

The Vacaville Steelheads beat the Saskatoon Moose, 6-3, at Moose Grounds. The win was due in part to center fielder Mike Gubbins, who went 3 for 3 with 2 triples, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Danny Beasley, the winner, goes to 8-2. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts over 7 innings. Mario Estrada earned the save, his 2nd in 2 tries.
Nate James hit a 2-run triple off Adam Booker in the top of the fifth, which put the Steelheads in front, 2-0. James had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Vacaville manager John Mills.
At 54-34, the Steelheads are currently first in the West Division.
