Senators Suffer 4-1 Loss to Empires
|
Southern California Empires starter Sid Brumbley was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the Albany Senators, 4-1. Brumbley got the win, improving to 7-5. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Brumbley allowed 1 run. Luis Galdamez got the save, the 6th for him this season.
The Empires got a big at-bat from third baseman Dave Ponte. For the game, Ponte was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Southern California a 2-0 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Albany skipper John Williams, "and it cost us."
Southern California is now 34-49, while Albany is 38-45.
