The timely hitting of Hidemitsu Ichikawa helped the Ottawa Capitals down the Vacaville Steelheads, 9-8. Ichikawa was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Capitals. Ottawa reliever Cory Johnson got the win, raising his record to 4-7. Brian Emmert was tagged with the loss. With the win, Ottawa goes to 34-45, while the Steelheads fall to 49-30.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Ottawa trailing 8-7, Ichikawa hit a fastball from Brian Emmert for a 2-run home run, giving the Capitals the walk-off win.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Ichikawa said in his postgame press conference.
