Newark had no answer for Southern California Empires starter Pete Block, who flummoxed Eagles hitters as the Empires cruised to victory, 6-0. The victory puts Southern California at 29-47.

Block, who dominated for Southern California, earned the victory to move to 2-3. He was in control the whole game, scattering 4 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 4. Newark batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
