Moroney Leads Steelheads to Win
|
The Vacaville Steelheads knocked off the Southern California Empires, 6-1, at Empires Stadium. Cody Moroney was a big reason Vacaville won. The first baseman was 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Mitch Cotham, the winning pitcher, improved to 5-2. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The Steelheads have an impressive 41-26 record.
Jared Herrick, the 32-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Herrick contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Vacaville up, 2-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Herrick, "and today was a good one for us."
