Winnipeg turned a good effort from starter John Koger into a win over the Southern California Empires at Empires Stadium. The final score was 5-2. The Empires, at 23-34, have lost 4 straight games.
With two out in the top of the seventh, Erik Almond had a game-changing hit. The Goldeyes right fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Will Neil, making the score 4-2, Winnipeg.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Almond told the Winnipeg Gazette. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
