Quebec City Blues starter Ricardo Mercado was on his game, helping his team beat the Ottawa Capitals, 4-2. Quebec City raised its record to 27-24 with the win.

Ron Medlen, the 35-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Medlen contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Quebec City up, 2-0.

"I had a good game plan," said Mercado. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Curtis Holtz said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
