Multi-HR Day for Medlen as Blues Overpower Capitals, 6-3
|
Quebec City and Ottawa got after it at Quebec City Grounds.
Quebec City first baseman Ron Medlen helped his team beat the Ottawa Capitals, 6-3. Medlen, who finished 2nd in the SPBC in home runs with 18 in 2002, went 2 for 3 for the Blues. The save was credited to Gordie Dolezal, his 1st.
Medlen contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Quebec City in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Medlen took a cutter from Cory Johnson and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Blues to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Quebec City manager Curtis Holtz.
The Blues, now 6-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.
