Thursday, October 16th , 2003
Danny Contreras of the Providence Grays said he never set out to win the Amateur Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award this season, but he'll certainly take it.
"2003 was a pretty good year for me, that much is obvious," he said. "This is icing on the cake."
The 27-year-old out of Maracaibo, Venezuela fashioned a 0.64 ERA this season over 42 innings of work. He made 28 relief appearances and had 15 saves, 41 strikeouts, 10 walks and a record of 1 win and 1 loss.
He ended up tied with Michael Maya with 46 total votes and 46 first place votes.
