Draper Wins Award for SPBC Dominance
Saturday, October 18th , 2003
Nate Draper said his performance in 2003 was a "statement" to the entire league.
"As an impending free agent you feel like you've got something to prove, something to work for to ensure that next contract," said the Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher, who is seemingly heading for free agency.
The bullpen ace certainly proved himself this year, and he has won the Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award.
The New York native had a 2.13 ERA this season over 67.2 innings of work. He made 47 relief appearances and had 17 saves, 69 strikeouts, 14 walks and a record of 4-3. Opponent batters hit only .228 against him.
He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Tristan Parker of the Ottawa Capitals finished second in voting, while Ryan Robinson of the Saskatoon Moose finished third.
