Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Buckner Monday, August 4th , 2003 Win or lose, Chris Buckner just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 2 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 20 games. The Vacaville Steelheads first baseman went 2-for-4 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 4-2 by the Southern California Empires at Empires Stadium. "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Chris Buckner flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Currently Buckner is hitting .361 and has collected 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 30 times, while playing in 40 games. |
