Greene Captures 2003 Rookie of the Year Award Sunday, October 19th , 2003 Detroit fans have reason to cheer today as first baseman Mike Greene brought home the Professional Baseball Circuit Rookie of the Year Award for 2003. He put together a .329 batting average on the strength of 114 hits and swatted 17 home runs. He also racked up 68 RBIs and scored 61 runs, signaling that this might be the beginning of a solid baseball career. Damani Moreno of the San Francisco Peanuts finished second in voting, while Bill Garcia of the Washington Warriors finished third. |
