Mavericks Ace Ortiz Cops Pitcher of the Year Award Sunday, October 19th , 2003 The Professional Baseball Circuit announced today that Jose Ortiz has been chosen the Pitcher of the Year Award winner for 2003. The Houston starter had everything working for him this past season as he soared to a 12-6 record. In his exceptional season Ortiz chalked up a 2.06 ERA in 165.2 innings with 211 strikeouts and 41 walks. Enemy teams hit .215 against him in his 22 starts. Jon Lund of the Washington Warriors finished second in voting, while Nick Hafer of the Chicago Blackhawks finished third. |
