Denver-St. Louis Swap: Kelley for Sugahara Thursday, September 4th , 2003 The Cutthroats have reached a deal with St. Louis, sending 27-year old RHP Nate Kelley to the Lions in exchange for 24-year old LF Naoto Sugahara, 21-year old minor league RHP John Jackson, and 16-year old minor league CF Danny Valencia. Reports had been hinting at a deal in recent days, but weren't confirmed until this afternoon. Kelley has a 7-3 season record so far. In 17 starts, he has fanned 112 batters in 113.1 innings with a 2.70 ERA. This season Sugahara is batting .211 with 3 home runs. His totals include 10 RBIs and 17 runs scored. |
