Ortiz Spectacular in 3-0 Win
In an outstanding mound performance, Houston Mavericks starter Jose Ortiz fired a complete-game shutout against the Denver Cutthroats at Mavericks Ballpark today.

Ortiz was the key to the Mavericks's 3-0 win. The 31-year-old left-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 1 hit and 3 walks he allowed.

"1 hit?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."

So far this season Ortiz has a record of 4-0 with 56 strikeouts and 9 walks in 40.1 innings and a 1.34 ERA.
