Earl Dunbar pitched a gem to lead Los Angeles to victory over the Detroit Motors, 2-0. Dunbar got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. Dunbar allowed no runs. The defeat makes Detroit 3-6.

Los Angeles left fielder Rich Garrett contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a slider into right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 15th hit of the season and put the Knights ahead, 1-0.

"Earl is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Los Angeles manager James Walker.
