Saskatoon Breaks Through for First Win in Semi-Pro Circuit Cup; Now Trails 2-1

The Saskatoon Moose got a great start from 35-year-old right-hander Jesse Krogh, as Saskatoon took the 5-2 win at Capitals Stadium over the series-leading Ottawa Capitals. Krogh threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs and helped Saskatoon close their deficit to 2 games to 1 in the best-of-7 series.

Saskatoon used the timely hitting of Matt Westfall to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Moose on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It has been an incredible experience today," Krogh said in the clubhouse following the game. "It's a short list of people who have started in the Semi-Pro Circuit Cup at all, and an even shorter list who have done a good job of it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Capitals Stadium in Ottawa.
